How Swede it is: Sens 4 Indians 1

I had to include at least one 'Swede' pun, because apparently everyone else is doing it ('Home Swede Home' in the Citizen, 'Swede and Sour' in the Sun). I'm pretty sure Ottawa Sun headline-writers will be pissed because I stole their best cover-copy, but too bad!

Anyway, the Sens took their first game outside of North American by a score of 4-1 over the Frolunda Indians on Wednesday afternoon. Although I didn't get to see the game (I should have called in sick), scorers for the Senators were Daniel Alfredsson, Chris Kelly, Alex Picard, and Jason Spezza. Oscar Hedman of the Indians scored a goal off of Jason Smith to make it 2-1 in the second, but the Sens took it away in the third.

Also for the Indians, according to the Ottawa Citizen's recap of the game, Erik Karlsson laid out Antione Vermette with a big hit, which is bittersweet. Since Vermette dosn't appear to be worse for wear, maybe it's just sweet. Not sweet, though, is a possible groin injury for Mike Fisher, who left the game as a precaution although his status for Saturday's season-opener is unclear.
